Curriculum tracker for teachers

A curriculum tracker that shows where every class stands.

Each curriculum outcome is To Do, Planned or Taught. It updates as you plan lessons, so there’s no spreadsheet to maintain.

What Compass shows you

Your curriculum, in three colours.

To DoNot on the calendar yet.
PlannedOn the calendar, linked to a lesson.
TaughtConfirmed, with the lessons behind it.

You choose which curriculum levels count for each class. The rest stays as reference.

Teaching check-ins

After the lesson, one question.

When a planned lesson’s date passes, Compass asks “Did you teach this?” Say yes and those outcomes move to Taught. Or reschedule it, leave it planned, or take it out.

Prefer to do it yourself? Mark any plan taught, or Quick Log it.

Teaching check-ins are included with Compass Plus.

Starting partway through the year

Started in October? Catch up in one sitting.

Every period since the first day starts ticked. Untick the field trip and the sick day, tick the curriculum you covered, and your coverage and pacing catch up to today.
Pacing alerts

A heads-up while there’s still time to adjust.

When a class falls behind, it shows up under Needs attention with how far behind it is and how much is still to plan. Open Plan with Compass to work out the catch-up, or snooze it.

Pacing alerts are included with Compass Plus.

Reports

For the day someone asks what you’ve covered.

Coverage summaries, detailed breakdowns and plan logs come straight from what you’ve already confirmed, as PDFs or one full spreadsheet.

Family Learning Summaries (Compass Plus) turn the term into plain-language notes in English and the language your families read at home. Review and edit before you share. Nothing is sent from Compass.

  • Activity. Every plan, upload and share in one list.
  • Read-only sharing. Give another Compass user access to a class, with an end date if you want one.

Also on the Reports page: editable comment starters.

Questions teachers ask first.

Do I have to enter everything I’ve taught by hand?

No. The lessons you plan in Compass update coverage as you go. Check-ins and Quick Log record what you taught, and Catch up on the term covers the weeks before you started.

Can I track more than one class or course?

Yes. Each class or course has its own tracking and its own coverage bar, and your home page adds them up. The free plan covers three active classes.

Which curriculum does it track?

Built-in curricula cover 11 Canadian provinces and territories, all four UK nations, Mexico and Common Core, each in its own curriculum language, or you can upload your own.

Can it make coverage reports?

Yes. Coverage summaries, detailed breakdowns and plan logs come from what you’ve confirmed, as PDFs or a spreadsheet, for any reporting period.

Does it replace my long-range plan?

It keeps your long-range plan honest. Planned items sit next to what’s been taught, so drift shows up while you can still do something about it.
