Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from educators about using CARL
Start by setting up your default curriculum in Settings so every lesson auto-aligns to your province. Then read the Essential Tour — it walks you through the editor and key features in 5 minutes. Beta teachers felt comfortable within their first 1–2 lessons.
Yes — everything CARL generates is a starting point, not a final product. Click into any text field to edit, add or remove lines, change formatting, and adjust timing. You can also upload your school logo and customize fonts and themes. See our Editing Made Easy guide for the full breakdown.
Yes. CARL generates lessons in French or Spanish across three immersion modes — Full Immersion (entire lesson in the target language), Student Sheet Only (student materials in target language, teacher guide in English), or Partial (English with target language vocabulary woven throughout). Learn more on the Learn & Support page.
Once your lesson content is finalized, open the Components & Resources tab in the left sidebar and click Browse Components. Filter by subject and grade, preview any worksheet before adding, and CARL fills it with lesson-aligned content automatically. See the full walkthrough at Adding Components & Facilitator Guides.
Yes. When you publish a lesson as Public, other teachers can find it, leave feedback, add facilitator notes, and remix it for their own classroom — all without changing your original. You control exactly what's allowed through the visibility and permissions settings. Teachers can also contribute worksheets or create their own remix of your lesson.
